E-commerce and online stores
An online store is not a website with a basket. It is a logistics operation with a website on the front.
The hard part of e-commerce is almost never technical. Catalogue, basket and payment are solved problems. What kills stores is what happens after the click: who packs the parcel, who hands it to the carrier, who answers when it does not arrive, and who handles the return.
In North African and many emerging markets, payment adds a second reality. A large share of customers still pay on delivery, which changes everything: unfulfilled orders, return shipping costs, and a cancellation rate that simply does not exist when payment is taken upfront. A store that ignores this loses money on every order.
The third is stock. Selling something online that is no longer on the shelf costs far more than a missed sale — it costs a customer and a review. The store must therefore talk to real stock, not to a copy updated by hand each evening.
What is included
Catalogue and product pages
Variants, sizes, colours, quantity pricing, promotions. Pages written to be found on Google, not only to look good.
Checkout
A short funnel, readable on a phone, with no forced account creation. Every step added loses buyers.
Payment
Cash on delivery, bank transfer, and Tunisian or international card gateways depending on your market.
Shipping
Zone-based rates, pickup points, carrier integration, customer-side tracking. Done badly, this generates more support messages than everything else combined.
Order management
One screen to pick, ship, collect and process returns — connected to stock, so an online sale and a shop sale never contradict each other.
Analytics
Where visitors come from, where they abandon, what they actually buy. Without it you are optimising blind.
Who it is for
- Physical retailers selling beyond their own neighbourhood
- Brands currently selling through Instagram and Facebook messages
- Wholesalers with per-customer pricing and repeat orders
- Producers and artisans targeting export markets
What drives the price
- Catalogue size and the number of variants per product.
- Payment methods: cash on delivery alone is simple, a card gateway requires an application and an integration.
- Logistics: zones, carriers, pickup points, returns.
- Connection to existing stock, particularly if you already run a POS in store.
- Multi-language and multi-currency if you are selling for export.
Frequently asked questions
Existing platform or custom build?
If your needs are standard, a well-configured existing platform is faster and more sensible. Custom is justified when your rules fall outside the frame: negotiated per-customer pricing, lot sales, subscriptions, or logistics the available modules cannot represent.
How do you handle cash on delivery?
By designing for it rather than suffering it. Order confirmation by call or message before dispatch, refusal tracking, and a cancellation-rate figure per zone — which is what lets you decide where you keep shipping without prepayment.
Can the store connect to our POS?
Yes, and it is strongly recommended as soon as you have a physical shop. Without that link you will run two diverging stock figures and sell online what you have just sold over the counter.
Can we sell internationally from Tunisia?
Yes, and it is a real opportunity for craft and regional products. It requires handling multi-currency, international shipping rates, customs declarations and export tax treatment — all to be settled during scoping, not after the first order.
