Maintenance, hosting and support
A delivered site is a site to keep alive. Always ask what happens the day after launch.
The question most often skipped at signature is also the most expensive: who looks after this once it is live? Software without upkeep does not stay stable, it decays — dependencies age, vulnerabilities accumulate, browsers change, and one day something breaks with nobody having touched anything.
Hosting is the other half. A site that is slow because it is badly hosted cancels all the design work: visitors leave before the first image appears, and search engines take note.
We also take over sites and software we did not build. It is a common and entirely workable situation: the previous supplier vanished, or the project was delivered with no follow-up. The first step is always an honest assessment of what exists.
What is included
Hosting
Deployment, domain, HTTPS certificate, clean redirects, and a configuration that serves your pages quickly where your visitors actually are.
Backups
Automatic, frequent, stored away from the main server — and actually tested. A backup that has never been restored is not a backup.
Security
Dependency updates, patches, access monitoring, abuse protection. Most breaches exploit a known vulnerability that was fixed months earlier.
Monitoring
Immediate alert if the site goes down or slows, with error tracking. Learning from a customer that their site is down is the wrong way to learn it.
Ongoing changes
A monthly allowance of hours for the adjustments real use uncovers, without a quote for every comma.
Taking over existing work
Audit, recovery of access and code, bringing it back up to standard. Including when documentation does not exist — which is the usual case.
Who it is for
- Companies whose previous supplier has disappeared
- Sites live for years with no updates at all
- Businesses with no in-house technical team
- Organisations wanting one contact for site, software and email
What drives the price
- How many sites or applications are covered and how complex they are.
- Hosting resources: a brochure site and a platform with thousands of users are unrelated.
- The response time you want guaranteed.
- Monthly hours of change work included.
- Starting condition, when taking over something poorly maintained.
Frequently asked questions
Can you take over a site someone else built?
Yes, it is a frequent request. We start with an assessment: which technology, how far behind, which vulnerabilities, which access is missing. The report is yours even if you then decide not to work with us.
What happens if our site is hacked?
Restore from a clean backup, find the entry point, close it, then rotate every credential. The order matters: restoring without closing the hole guarantees a second intrusion within the week.
Where are sites hosted?
It depends on the project and your audience. For reach, what matters is real distance to the visitor and whether a delivery network is in front. For sensitive or regulated data, the legal framework decides and it outranks performance.
Do we own our data and our code?
Yes, and it must be written into the contract. You can leave with your code, your data and your domain at any time. Require that of any supplier, us included.
